Diagnostic Assessments

Assessment Types

We provide comprehensive assessments across all ages.

A comprehensive assessment can help identify developmental difficulties and determine which interventions, strategies and supports will assist someone to reach their potential.

We can provide diagnostic assessment for a range of conditions, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder.

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

  • Depression and other mood disorders.

  • Anxiety and Related Disorders

Our autistic assessments are holistic and designed to determine if someone is on the autism spectrum, and to provide detailed information about their adaptive functioning, strengths and support needs.

Our assessments include information about an individual’s strengths, talents and interests so their support plan can be tailored to their particular goals and aspirations.

Autism assessments are conducted by our specialist staff, who are trained in the use of gold standard assessment instruments (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and Autism Diagnostic Interview).

A Diagnostic Assessment @ The Lighthouse Includes:

  • A comprehensive review of previous reports and records from school, medical doctors and specialists.

  • Interview and review of developmental history and the current concerns of the family and child.

  • If necessary, consultation with those already providing services to the client (i.e., speech therapist, school teacher, psychiatrist, medical professionals).

  • Administration of standard tests including diagnostic tests specific to the family and child’s concerns.

  • Full written report including background information, observations of the client, results of standardised tests, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations.

  • Feedback session with parents/caregivers to review the findings within the written report and answer questions.

Please note...

A referral from a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist is required for an autism assessment and should be attached to the intake paperwork when submitted.

Depending on your plan and circumstances, you may be able to claim the cost of your assessment through your NDIS plan. This can be discussed at the time of booking an appointment.
